Helen Howson

Dr Helen Howson is the Director of the Bevan Commission, an independent think tank for health and care in Wales, and the Bevan Commission Academy, which aims to help translate the Commissions' findings into practice. Helen played a lead role in its establishment and in developing the prudent healthcare principles and the Bevan Innovators and Bevan Innovation Hub programmes.

Before this, Helen held several senior positions within Welsh Government Health Policy and Strategy over 12 years, latterly heading up the Primary and Community Health Strategy Unit. Helen has considerable experience in clinical, service, professional and organisational policy, leading chronic conditions management change across Wales and in specific areas such as diabetes, respiratory, therapies, older people, palliative care and third sector-related policies.
