Helen Thomas
Dr Helen Thomas has led Digital Health & Care Wales (DHCW) as CEO since 2021, guiding its impactful response to the COVID-19 pandemic and driving the rapid adoption of data and digital advancements across NHS Wales. She also oversaw DHCW's successful transition to a Special Health Authority in April 2021, ensuring the continued delivery of essential national digital and data services.
With over 30 years in the NHS, Helen began in finance before moving into health information in 2000. Over two decades, she has held various senior informatics roles, spearheading digital transformation for more effective and safer care.
Recognised as Digital NHS CEO of the Year in 2021, Helen holds an MSc in Health Informatics and is a leading figure in her field, including being a Professor of Practice. Beyond digital delivery, she's passionate about fostering an inclusive organisation and being a role model.
Helen is dedicated to digital inclusion, chairing DHCW's group focused on ensuring communities are not left behind by digital change, particularly those lacking skills or access.
