Laura Marrón Merino is Chief Executive Officer of BAIC — the Basque Artificial Intelligence Centre — the public-private initiative advancing artificial intelligence development and adoption in the Basque Country, Spain. Since taking up the role in 2022, she has led BAIC's growth as a collaborative ecosystem connecting industry, technology providers, research organisations and public institutions to strengthen innovation, competitiveness and societal benefit through AI.

A Telecommunications Engineer from the University of the Basque Country and an Executive MBA graduate of Deusto Business School, Laura brings more than 14 years of experience in technology innovation, business strategy, R&D management, product development and customer experience. Before joining BAIC, she developed her career at ZIV, a company specialising in smart-grid and energy-sector solutions.

Her work focuses on making AI practical, accessible and responsibly deployed, with particular attention to the link between technology and business, skills development, ethics and the regional industrial transformation enabled by AI.
