Swetha Kiranmayi Jakkuva

Leader, Research Enabling Services, Global Value Web (GVW) | OHDSI India Chapter Leader 

Dr. Swetha Kiranmayi Jakkuva is a healthcare-data professional, clinical researcher and community leader working at the intersection of real-world data, evidence generation and digital-health transformation. She leads Research Enabling Services at Global Value Web (GVW), where her work focuses on Real-World Data (RWD), Real-World Evidence (RWE), observational research, healthcare-data standardisation and supporting hospitals on their digital.

As Leader of the OHDSI India Chapter, Dr. Swetha is helping to build a collaborative national ecosystem for open, interoperable and research-ready health data. Her work brings together hospitals, academic institutions and industry partners to advance adoption of the OMOP Common Data Model, develop patient registries and enable scalable observational research in India. She has represented OHDSI India in APAC community activities and has contributed to initiatives including OHDSI India Digital Health Centres of Excellence and national registry pilots.

Originally trained as a dentist, Dr. Swetha combines clinical understanding with extensive experience in clinical research, pharmacovigilance, clinical data management and healthcare analytics. Her professional background includes clinical data management at ICON Clinical Research and work in US healthcare solutions at athenahealth. She further developed her data-science expertise through postgraduate training in Data Science and Business Analytics at the University of Texas at Austin.

Her areas of interest include OMOP CDM implementation, RWD/RWE analytics, medical and drug coding—including MedDRA, WHODrug and SNOMED—data quality, patient registries, AI and machine learning in healthcare, and the responsible use of structured health data to improve research and care. Dr. Swetha is particularly committed to enabling evidence-based decision-making through standards, open science and cross-sector collaboration.
