Driving Change Through Data Insights
Date: 24-26 September 2025
Venues: sbarc | sparc at Cardiff University & voco St David's, Cardiff, Wales (TBC)
Format: Hybrid Summit (In-person & Online Participation)
By joining us in Wales, you become part of a live dialogue—where data governance, digital ethics, and AI innovation converge to create resilient, people-centred healthcare systems.

Why Wales? Why Now?
Wales has become one of the most inspiring real-world examples of how data can transform healthcare — ethically, securely, and at scale. As the host of the Health Data Forum Global Hybrid Summit 2025, Cardiff's voco St David's Hotel offers more than a spectacular waterfront setting: it provides an integrated environment where global leaders can engage in focused dialogue, collaboration, and innovation.
From Trusted Research Environments (TREs) to cross-sector governance models like WASPI, NHS Wales is internationally recognised for using health data to improve care delivery, public health, and policy. It is no coincidence that this year's Summit is being co-hosted with Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) — a leader in evidence-based digital innovation.
At the heart of this is the Social Tech & Health Innovation Village — our unique innovation showcase. Unlike traditional expo halls, The Village is seamlessly embedded into the Summit programme, creating space to discover pioneering projects, platforms, and partnerships in an environment designed for dialogue rather than sales pitches.

Deep Dive: Genomics, Patient Safety & Engagement
Led by João Breda, Iñaki Gutiérrez-Ibarluzea, Ian Green, Antonio Pardinas, Finn McCartney, Ceri Steele & Chris Carrigan
This interactive Deep Dive brings together international experts, patient advocates, and researchers to explore how genomics and patient engagement can work hand in hand to strengthen trust, safety, and impact in the secondary use of health data.
On one side, global and local leaders from WHO Europe, Cardiff University, SNOMED International, and the Basque Government will examine how genomic insights and pharmacogenomics can improve patient safety and inform predictive models for real-world healthcare. On the other hand, patient representatives from EUPATI and use MY data will share case studies, ethical frameworks, and practical tools to ensure that patients' voices shape the governance of data-intensive research.
Designed as a peer-learning experience, the session blends focused expert inputs with facilitated breakout discussions, culminating in the co-creation of a draft "Joint Charter on Trustworthy Secondary Use of Health Data." The aim: to inspire international collaboration and generate actionable recommendations for embedding trust, transparency, and equity in the use of health data.
